Beyond Care Child Centre was founded by Hanna Mamo and Alex in 2017, with a shared mission to provide professional, caring early childhood education in Burnaby.
Hanna's background in community service and direct support work shaped the centre's values from the beginning. Prior to opening Beyond Care, she worked alongside individuals navigating significant personal challenges — developing a deep understanding of what compassionate, consistent support looks like in practice. Outside of work, Hanna has been active in her church community for many years, including teaching children through Sunday school, an experience that reinforced her commitment to nurturing environments where every child feels seen and valued.
That foundation of care and purpose gave both founders the clarity they needed to act. In October 2017, they took over Parkwood Daycare when the opportunity arose. The transition came with challenges, but the team was determined to build something they could be proud of — and to earn the lasting trust of the families they served. The result is the Beyond Care Child Centre that Burnaby and New Westminster families rely on today.
When Beyond Care Child Centre launched in Burnaby, the priority was clear: establish a professional, nurturing service that genuinely serves the local community. The name was chosen deliberately — to reflect a commitment to care that goes beyond the standard, and to an environment where children and families feel truly at home.
The first year and a half was focused on building trust. The team worked to establish the centre's own culture and demonstrate, through consistent action, what Beyond Care stood for. The families who experienced that transition first-hand became the foundation of the centre's reputation, and that trust continues to grow today.
Beyond Care's core mission has remained the same since day one: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and families it serves. The centre is also proud to give back to the broader community. Through a partnership with the Food for Hunger organization, Beyond Care currently provides financial support for 14 children — and the team is committed to expanding that impact as the centre continues to grow.
The Beyond Care team is made up of certified Early Childhood Educators who are deeply committed to each child's development. With ECE certification and years of combined hands-on experience, our educators build genuine relationships with the children in their care — creating a safe, accepting, and stimulating environment where every child has the space and support to grow at their own pace.
